Several Penn State Altoona performing arts groups will hold auditions over the first few weeks of the fall 2024 semester. Auditions are open to all Penn State Altoona students.
ALTOONA, Pa. — Penn State Altoona will hold auditions for the spring 2025 production of Sophie Treadwell's 1928 play "Machinal" from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 15 and 16, in the Wolf Kuhn Theatre of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts.
"Machinal" is a powerful, expressionistic piece predicting society will become living machines. Jazz musicians and dancers aid in telling a feminist protagonist's path to the electric chair.
Available rolls include eight to 12 ensemble actors, including some with speaking roles and one strong female actor. The production also will feature four to 12 dancers, some with speaking roles.
