ALTOONA, Pa. — Penn State Altoona will offer several information sessions about the 2025 alternative spring break trip to Puerto Rico at the following times:
- Tuesday, Sept. 17, from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. in Room 146 of the Hawthorn Building.
- Thursday, Oct. 3, from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Student Success Center, Room 125C of the Eiche Library.
- Tuesday, Oct. 15, from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. in Room 146 of the Hawthorn Building.
- Thursday, Oct. 31, from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Student Success Center, Room 125C of the Eiche Library.
- Tuesday, Nov. 12, from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. in Room 146 of the Hawthorn Building.
This alternative spring break is an eight-day excursion during which students will experience service-learning by visiting the El Yunque National Forest in Puerto Rico. They also will participate in conservation projects and a disaster relief and resiliency project in the local community.
In addition, participants will work with the Boys and Girls Club, helping with homework, assisting with recreational activities, and helping youth practice their English. Students also will have the opportunity to explore the region's culture.
The trip will take place from March 8-15, 2025.
