ALTOONA, Pa. — Penn State Altoona has announced a full lineup of events, including lectures and discussions, for the campus' 2024-25 Common Read book, titled “All the Memories that Remain: War, Alzheimer’s, and the Search for a Way Home.” All Common Read events are free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be available.

This memoir, written by former Penn State Altoona student E.M. Liddick, has been described as “unflinching” and “vulnerable,” as it “stands witness to one man's fall from grace and his journey to find meaning in what remains.”

The book's topics of grief, PTSD, anxiety, veteran's issues and awareness, and Alzheimer’s disease are intended to resonate with the campus community and inspire important discussions.

Born and raised in a rural, blue-collar community in central Pennsylvania, Liddick graduated from Penn State and holds a juris doctor degree from Tulane University. He is a veteran of the Marine Corps Reserves and the Army's elite 75th Ranger Regiment.

His work has appeared in MilitaryTimes, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, the Moving Force Journal, UltraRunning magazine, War on the Rocks, the War Horse, and Thought Catalog.

Visit the Common Read site for a full list of events and more information about “All the Memories that Remain.”
