NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. — Penn State Altoona student-athlete Luke Pletz of Jefferson Hills received a pair of second-team All-Conference nods when the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference released its postseason awards on Thursday, Feb. 23.

Pletz took second-team All-AMCC status in the 100 and 200 Yard Backstroke swims.

The AMCC’s All-Conference swim teams are based on swimmers’ finishes during the conference championship meet, which took place Feb. 15 through 18. First-place finishes earn spots on the first team of the All-AMCC team, while runner-up finishes take second-team recognition.

Pletz took second place in the AMCC in the 100 Yard Backstroke during the finals session on Friday, Feb. 17. He finished in 52.20 to earn conference runner-up status while also setting a new Penn State Altoona men’s swimming record in that event. Later in the meet, Pletz broke that record by swimming the 100 Yard Backstroke portion of the 400 Yard Medley Relay in 51.98.

Pletz’s other second-team All-AMCC recognition came in the 200 Yard Backstroke, in which he placed second in the conference with a time of 1:55.80 on Saturday, Feb. 18.

Penn State Altoona men’s swimming finished in third place as a team in the AMCC Championships, scoring a program-record 461.5 points across the meet’s four days.
