Penn State Altoona professors to collaborate on ‘Words and Music’ event

“Words and Music,” a unique concert pairing four local singer-songwriters with four poets from Penn State Altoona, will take place on Sunday, Sept. 11, at Colerain Forges Mansion in Spruce Creek, Pennsylvania.

ALTOONA, Pa. — Mark your calendar for the “Words and Music” concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, at Colerain Forges Mansion in Spruce Creek, Pennsylvania.

The unique concert pairs four local singer-songwriters with four poets from Penn State Altoona. The pairs will perform their works for about 25 minutes in different settings on the mansion grounds.

Featured poets are: Todd Davis, professor of English and environmental studies; Erin Murphy, professor of English; Lee Peterson, associate teaching professor of English and women’s, gender, and sexuality studies; and Patricia Jabbeh Wesley, professor of English. Jerry Zolten, professor of communication arts and sciences, is hosting the concert and produced the event.

Space is limited to 50 people. Tickets are required, but admission is by donation. Attendees can order tickets and find out more information online.

The concert is sponsored by the Colerain Center for Education, Preservation and the Arts Foundation.
