Altoona English professor has poems published in literary journals

Erin Murphy, professor of English at Penn State Altoona, has published her latest book of poetry, “Fluent in Blue.”

“Fluent in Blue,” published by Grayson Books, was also named a finalist for Ohio University’s Hollis Summers Poetry Prize, the Alice James Award sponsored by Alice James Books, and the Word Works Books Washington Prize.

ALTOONA, Pa. — Erin Murphy, professor of English at Penn State Altoona, has published new poems in several literary journals.

Three new prose poems — “Hybrid,” “Gerunding” and “Ekphrasis” — appear in the current issue of Eastern Iowa Review.

Her poem “For Out of It You Were Taken” is in the spring issue of EcoTheo Review.

Her poems “Illuminated,” “At the End of the Day” and “Yearlings” are featured in the Northern Appalachia Review.

Murphy is the author or editor of 13 books, most recently "Taxonomies" and "Human Resources," forthcoming from Salmon Poetry in 2022. She will read from her work at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, at ArtsAltoona, located at 2212 Sixth Ave. in Altoona.
