Altoona professor publishes new edition of petroleum history book

ALTOONA, Pa. — Brian Black, Distinguished Professor of history and environmental studies at Penn State Altoona, recently wrote a second edition of his book "Crude Reality: Petroleum in World History," released by Rowman & Littlefield.

Black updated the issue to discuss current issues such as “extreme” energy development, fracking and policy changes related to the Trump administration. "Crude Reality" is used as a supplementary textbook in world history and history of energy classes globally.

A Chinese edition of the book will be released in 2021.
