Biography
Sarah received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in 2007 and a Master of Arts in Community Counseling from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2010. Sarah began her mental health career working in an adult partial hospitalization program and inpatient psychiatric unit from 2007 until 2014. Sarah also has a certification as a Co-Occurring Disorders Professional – Diplomate. She completed her clinical supervision and license in 2012. Sarah began working at the Penn State Altoona Health and Wellness Center as a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2014.
Sarah loves working in a college setting and enjoys helping students learn how to navigate new and existing challenges. Sarah takes an eclectic approach to counseling, often utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy models.
As the chair of the Health Advisory Board, Sarah also enjoys engaging with students through her outreach initiatives on campus. You may often see her around campus hosting a health fair, organizing a monthly awareness campaign, or hosting the beloved Hugs for Hounds.
