Md Fazlay Rabbi, Ph.D.

Assistant Teaching Professor, Mechanical Engineering
Cypress Building, 101H

Dr. Rabbi completed his Ph.D. in Applied Mechanics and Materials from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. His expertise is in the fields of composite material, additive manufacturing, structural dynamics, and high strain rate characterization. His doctoral research was focused on the mechanics of additively manufactured polymer under a wide range of quasi-static and dynamic loading. He completed his master’s from the same institution where he explored the high strain rate behavior of Kevlar composite and developed a mathematical model to investigate the response of viscoelastic material under impact load. One of his research focused on structural health monitoring for an aerospace application via CNTs under dynamic loading. His current research interests included developing tough, multifunctional, and smart fiber-reinforced and additively manufactured composite for extreme environments (High Strain Rate and High Temperature). Dr.Rabbi serves as a session organizer and session chair for the Composite, Hybrid, and Multifunctional Materials technical division of the Society for Experimental Mechanics (SEM), Annual Conferences & Exposition.
