Biography
Blaine Arney is an assistant professor of kinesiology with a specialization in exercise physiology. Arney was born and raised in Washington, Indiana. Following high school, he attended Saint Francis University in Loretto where he played soccer and obtained his B.S. in Exercise Physiology. He then received his M.S. in Clinical Exercise Physiology from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse and Ph.D. in Exercise and Rehabilitation Science from Marquette University. The primary goal of Arney’s research is to improve cardiometabolic health and muscular function in individuals with metabolic dysfunction and older adults. Blaine’s research utilizes an integrative approach using various methodologies such as ultrasound and electrical stimulation to study multiple systems (e.g., cardiovascular, nervous, and musculoskeletal). His research has resulted in numerous publications and the attainment of both internal and extramural funding.
Arney is passionate about education and teaches classes in exercise physiology and exercise rehabilitation science. He has mentored multiple undergraduate students and enjoys engaging and training students in the research process. Outside of work, Arney enjoys spending time outdoors climbing, hiking, biking, playing music, and spending time with his wife, Alyssa. Fun Fact: Blaine has fractured his foot four times which included breaking the same bone in each foot.
