Most parking areas at Penn State Altoona are reserved for students, faculty, and staff. Parking permits are required to park in these parking areas. We cordially welcome guests to Penn State Altoona and ask your cooperation. Visitor parking areas are provided at convenient locations in the Ivy Lot and Misciagna Lot.
Registration for student parking is an online application process. Please refer to the links below for information.
Students can either pay online, with a credit card, at the time of registration or pay in-person at the time of pick-up. In-person payments can be made with cash, check, or money order.
NOTE: Although there is no charge for summer permits, students are still required to complete the on-line registration and pick up a permit from the parking office.
Students can register online at least five business days before picking up their permit at the Penn State Altoona University Parking Office, Poplar Building, located at the corner of Wopsononock Avenue and Juniata Gap Road. The Parking Office will be open from 8:00 a.m.–noon, Monday–Friday.
- Students and their guests are not considered visitors and should never park in visitor designated areas.
- Residents of Cedar, Maple, and Spruce Halls and their guests must always park in the Rider Lot. Residents of Oak Hall and their guests must park in the Larch Lot unless otherwise instructed by the Parking Office.

Student Metered Parking
Parking meters, both short and long term, for student use are located in the upper Ivy Parking Lot, the Juniata Gap Lot and the Hawthorn Lot. They are intended for use by students who have not purchased a Penn State Altoona parking permit but find it necessary to park on campus for a period not to exceed the posted limits. Parking meters are posted with signs explaining the maximum time a student is permitted to park in a metered space. Students are responsible for inserting the appropriate amount of money into the parking meter. (Parking meters are intended for students who need to park on campus for a short period and are not intended for students attending regularly scheduled classes.) Vehicles displaying a valid Penn State parking permit are not permitted to park in the metered section and may be ticketed.
