Penn State Altoona alumnus Carl Sell and Nick Katsiadas will offer a talk on J.R.R. Tolkien at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, in room 139 of the Hawthorn Building.
ALTOONA, Pa. — Penn State Altoona alumnus Carl Sell has co-edited the new book “Tolkien's Medievalism in Ruins: The Function of Relics and Ruins in Middle-earth.”
This collection attempts to provide a more comprehensive approach to J.R.R. Tolkien's legendarium.
Sell also co-wrote the book’s introduction and wrote the chapter “The Blade of the King: Tolkien, Arthur, and the Remnants of Kingship.”
A graduate of Penn State Altoona’s English program, Sell is associate director for McNair and Undergraduate Research Programs at the University of Pittsburgh.
