Five Altoona student-athletes voted to AMCC Winter All-Sportsmanship Team

The Penn State Altoona men’s golf team’s participation in the upcoming NCAA Division III Championship was made official on Monday, May 12, when the DIII Men’s Golf Committee announced the Lions as one of the 43 teams in its postseason field.

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. — Five Penn State Altoona winter sport student-athletes were voted to the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Winter All-Sportsmanship Team by their peers, as the league office announced the recognition on April 8.

All teams that compete for an AMCC championship select one member from each of their rosters who displays good sportsmanship throughout the season to be included on the All-Sportsmanship team. These individuals are selected by a vote of their teammates.

The student-athlete selected by each team must consistently demonstrate a high level of ethical conduct, respect, and fair play in both practice and competition, whether on the sidelines or as an active competitor. Such sportsmanship shall be evident toward teammates, coaches, opponents, officials, and fans. The player also must serve as a positive representative of school spirit when a spectator at other teams' sporting events.

The five Penn State Altoona winter sport student-athletes voted to the AMCC All-Sportsmanship team by their teammates are:

  • Remington Fleck, of Tyrone, men’s wrestling
  • Madison Coleman, of Altoona, women’s swimming
  • Andrew Miller, of Easton, men’s swimming
  • Jess Burns, of South Payette, women’s basketball
  • Mason Kargo, of Portage, men’s basketball
