Penn State Altoona English professor's poem featured on Verse Daily

Erin Murphy

Erin Murphy, professor of English at Penn State Altoona, was the featured poet on the June 30 episode of “Rattlecast,” a national podcast sponsored by “Rattle” magazine. In addition to the video recording, the audio version is available on most podcast apps and platforms.

ALTOONA, Pa. — A poem by Erin Murphy, professor of English, is featured in Verse Daily, an online anthology of contemporary poetry.

“The Internet of Things” appears in Murphy’s new book of poetry, “Fluent in Blue,” which was published by Grayson Books in April 2024. The poem originally appeared in Rattle magazine and won the Rattle Poetry Prize Readers’ Choice Award.

Murphy is the author or editor of more than a dozen previous books, chapbooks and anthologies, with two additional books forthcoming from Salmon Poetry and Wesleyan University Press. She is the Poet Laureate of Blair County and is currently serving as Penn State’s inaugural Mellon Academic Leadership Fellow for the Big Ten Academic Alliance.
