ALTOONA, Pa. — Translated into French, an essay by Brian Black, distinguished professor of history and environmental studies at Penn State Altoona, is used as the conclusion of the book “Vivre et Lutter dans un Monde Toxique: Violence Environnmentale et Sante a l’age du Petrole.”
The piece, “Closing the Loop: Informing our Energy Transition with New Knowledge,” was originally produced for a 2019 conference in Lyon, France, and encouraged industrial historians and social scientists to consider the implications faced by communities related to the global petro-chemical industry.
