What do you currently do professionally?
teach writing (assistant professor)

How has majoring in English helped you on your career pathway(s)?
It has given me the basis of knowledge in my field (higher education).

What knowledge and skills help you succeed in your job on a daily basis (and, possibly, in unanticipated ways)?
I learned about communication, correct style and grammar, flexibility, and presentation.

In what (unanticipated) ways has the English major impacted your life beyond your profession?
My degree in English has helped me to foster relationships with colleagues and communicate well interpersonally. It has allowed me to be open minded to multiple opportunities related to my field.

What is your favorite experience from your time in the English program?
One of my favorite experiences was working on research for Dr. Sandy Petrulionis. I also enjoyed my creative writing courses.

What advice do you have for current English majors or students considering entry into the field in which you’re currently working?
Take advantage of versatile opportunities and learn to market yourself.

Is there anything else you would like current Penn State Altoona students (of all majors) to know?
The English and writing faculty at Penn State Altoona care about you; enjoy the beautiful campus.
