Erin Murphy’s essay nominated for 2022 Best of the Net award

Erin Murphy, professor of English at Penn State Altoona, has published her latest book of poetry, “Fluent in Blue.”

“Fluent in Blue,” published by Grayson Books, was also named a finalist for Ohio University’s Hollis Summers Poetry Prize, the Alice James Award sponsored by Alice James Books, and the Word Works Books Washington Prize.

ALTOONA, Pa. — An essay by Erin Murphy, professor of English at Penn State Altoona, has been nominated for a 2022 Best of the Net award by the Cincinnati Review. You can read the essay, “Re-entry,” or listen to an audio recording on the Cincinnati Review website.

Established in 2006, Best of the Net is an annual award and anthology series recognizing outstanding poetry, fiction, and nonfiction published in online literary journals. The editors of hundreds of publications nominate what they deem to be the best work they published in the preceding year.

Murphy is Poet Laureate of Blair County and the author or editor of 13 books and chapbooks, including “Human Resources,” forthcoming from Salmon Poetry of Ireland.
