Five Altoona student-athletes selected to AMCC Winter All-Sportsmanship Team

Three members of Penn State Altoona women’s basketball team were voted to the All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) team, which was announced on Tuesday, Feb. 27, by the league office.

Forward Avana Sayles, of Venetia, was voted to the second team of the All-AMCC squad, while guard/forward Jaidyn McCracken, of Bellwood, and guard Jordan Bisignani, of Pittsburgh, were both third-team selections.

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. — Five Penn State Altoona student-athletes were named to the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s (AMCC) Winter All-Sportsmanship Team, which was announced on Monday, April 4, to kick off the league’s celebration of NCAA Division III Week.

All teams that compete for an AMCC championship select one member from each of their rosters who displays good sportsmanship throughout the season to be included on the All-Sportsmanship team. These individuals are selected by a vote of their teammates.

The student-athlete selected by each team must consistently demonstrate a high level of ethical conduct, respect and fair play in both practice and competition, whether on the sidelines or as an active competitor. Such sportsmanship shall be evident toward teammates, coaches, opponents, officials and fans. The player also must serve as a positive representative of school spirit when a spectator at other teams' sporting events.

The Penn State Altoona winter sport student-athletes selected to the AMCC All-Sportsmanship team by their teammates are:

  • Women’s swimming: Madison Coleman (Altoona, Pennsylvania/Tyrone)
  • Men’s swimming: Matt Lenze (Duncansville, Pennsylvania/Bishop Guilfoyle)
  • Women’s basketball: Emma Kitko (Houtzdale, Pennsylvania/Moshannon Valley)
  • Men’s basketball: Dominic Frucella (Duncansville, Pennsylvania/Hollidaysburg) 
  • Women’s bowling: Kaitlyn Estright (Norristown, Pennsylvania/Archbishop Carroll)
