Penn State Altoona held its fall 2016 commencement on Saturday, Dec. 17 at the Jaffa Shrine in Altoona. The event featured a commencement address by Professor of Visual Arts and Penn State Laureate Rebecca Strzelec.
Penn State Altoona's Alumni Society held its fifth annual Winter Plunge event Saturday, Jan. 28 at Canoe Creek State Park. Seventy-four Penn State students, staff, and community members ran, jumped, dove, flipped, and belly-flopped into the 37-degree-water to support the Alumni Society's scholarship program and Penn State Altoona Benefiting THON.
To date, Winter Plunge 2017 gross proceeds from donations and sponsorships total $38,771.30. Net proceeds will be divided equally between the two causes.
Theatre 208, Theatre in Diverse Culture, is a performance-oriented class which explores the historic and contemporary theatrical works of various culturally diverse peoples. During a two-week study of African theatre this semester, students immersed themselves in the culture's voice, movement, and story-telling.
