Jared Frederick, assistant teaching professor of history at Penn State Altoona, co-authored “Into the Cold Blue: My World War II Journeys with the Mighty Eighth Air Force” (2024, Regnery History) with John Homan, an aviator with the Army Air Forces and recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross award for heroism or extraordinary achievement during aerial flight.
Several students in AG 150: First-Year Seminar at Penn State Altoona participated in summer internships. Garett Walk, fourth from left, is pursuing a degree in wildlife and fisheries science and has interned with the Blair County Conservation District.
Brynn Miller spent her summer as a scientific and technical forestry intern with the Pennsylvania Game Commission. She is majoring in agricultural science with a minor in forest ecosystems.
Emily Suchta, a Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences student, interned at the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium’s International Conservation Center in Fairhope. She is majoring in wildlife and fisheries science and minoring in biology and marine sciences.
Penn State Altoona’s Ivyside Dance Ensemble will present its fall 2024 performance at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 14-15 in the Wolf Kuhn Theatre of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts. The performance will consist of seven dances from director KT Huckabee, choreographer and instructor Jaye Mackinson, and returning guest choreographer Ana Rossi-Lanzendorfer.
A poetry reading by Mike Simms will take place from 12:05 to 1:20 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14, in the Titelman Study of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts at Penn State Altoona. Simms is a poet, novelist, essayist, political activist, editor and publisher.
