Suicide Prevention

Penn State Altoona will host a suicide prevention program at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 12, in the Slep Student Center.

The Blair County Suicide Prevention Task Force will share "Talk Saves Lives,” developed to teach attendees how to have conversations with peers about suicide and learn the warning signs. A suicide attempt survivor will also speak. Resources and support staff will be present.

Dig deep into the origin story of Black gospel music with the new documentary series “Gospel,” premiering nationally on PBS Feb. 12 and 13, 2024.

Jerry Zolten, professor of communication arts and sciences at Penn State Altoona, contributed to and appears in the series, which dives into the complex history of Gospel music and preaching.
