We’re happy to help our students and their families explore their financial options when deciding how to fund college costs, whether it be personal savings, tuition savings plans, student employment, Penn State’s payment plan, student financial aid, or a combination of these options. Contact the Office of Student Aid at 814-949-5055 or email email@example.com to speak with a financial aid counselor.
The Office of Student Aid provides support for Penn State Altoona students who receive one or more of the four basic types of financial aid:
- Grants - Grants are based on financial need and do not have to be repaid. The source for grants is usually state, federal government, or from the institution that the student is attending.
- Scholarships - Scholarships are based on financial need, merit, or both, and do not have to be repaid. The source for scholarships may be the institution that the student is attending or an outside source.
- Loans - Loans are borrowed and must be repaid, usually with interest and in a select period of time.
- Work-Study - A student may be awarded a certain amount of work-study per academic year that can be obtained by working either on campus or off campus at select locations.
