Altoona’s Andrew Chronister picked as AMCC Player of the Week in men’s tennis

Penn State Altoona men’s tennis student-athlete Andrew Chronister, of York, was announced as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Player of the Week on Monday, March 18.

Chronister posted wins in his singles and doubles matches on Sunday, helping the Lions achieve their first win of the season against AMCC foe Pitt-Greensburg.

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. — Penn State Altoona men’s tennis student-athlete Andrew Chronister, of York, was announced as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Player of the Week on Monday, March 18.

Chronister posted wins in his singles and doubles matches on Sunday, helping the Lions achieve their first win of the season against AMCC foe Pitt-Greensburg.

Chronister was part of a dominant performance by Penn State Altoona on Sunday afternoon, as the Lions blanked AMCC opponent Pitt-Greensburg 9-0. In No. 1 doubles, the Chronister teamed up with Casey Hess, of Annville, to earn an 8-1 decision over their opponents. In No. 2 singles, he defeated his opponent 6-0, 6-0.

Chronister is 4-0 overall this season in both singles and doubles matches.

Penn State Altoona men’s tennis is 1-3 overall this season, including 1-0 in the AMCC. The Lions’ next match is on the road Tuesday, March 19, at 6 p.m. against non-conference opponent Geneva College.
