Brian Black contributes essay to new business and environment book

Brian Black's essay “Driving Change: The Winding Road to Greener Automobiles” was recently published by the University of Pennsylvania Press in the new book Green Capitalism: Business and Environment in the Twentieth Century.

Edited by Hartmut Berghoff and Adam Rome, this collection of essays grows out of research presented at the Hagley Museum and Library at the University of Delaware and offers a critical, historically informed perspective on building a more sustainable economy.

Black’s essay traces the slow but certain greening of American auto manufacturing, particularly emphasizing the transition since the 1970s oil crisis to the growth of today’s Hybrid and Electric Vehicles sector of automobiles.
