Altoona student-athletes earn spots on AMCC Academic All-Conference Team

Five members of the Penn State Altoona women’s volleyball program picked up postseason honors from the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, as the league announced its all-conference team and other postseason awards on Tuesday, Nov. 14.

Lions head coach Jamie McGreal was voted the AMCC’s Coach of the Year, and outside hitter Lia Simanski, of Altoona, was selected the conference’s Newcomer of the Year. Penn State Altoona also got four student-athletes on the all-conference list, as libero Anna Batrus, of Altoona, was a first-team All-AMCC selection, outside hitter Lacee Barnhart, of Bellefonte, and Simanski were both second-team picks, and middle Makenna Port, of Bellefonte, earned third-team recognition.

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. — For day four of NCAA Division III Week, the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference announced its 2022-23 Academic All-Conference Team on Thursday, April 13. The team includes 93 Penn State Altoona student-athletes.

The conference’s annual Academic All-Conference Team recognizes student-athletes from institutions across the AMCC for achieving cumulative grade-point averages of 3.2 or higher through the fall 2022 semester. Individuals on the list who compile GPAs of 3.5 or higher earn a greater status of recognition, as they are tabbed as Peak Performers. The 2022-23 AMCC Academic All-Conference Team is comprised of 939 student-athletes from across the conference’s member schools, including both full and affiliate members.

This year, a total of 93 Penn State Altoona student-athletes earned spots on the AMCC Academic All-Conference Team. Out of that group, 55 student-athletes were recognized as Peak Performer individuals. Additionally, 10 Penn State Altoona student-athletes were tabbed for induction into Chi Alpha Sigma, the national student-athlete honor society. View the full list here
