Altoona professor publishes poem about earthquakes in Turkey, Syria

An essay by Erin Murphy, professor of English at Penn State Altoona, has been nominated for a 2022 Best of the Net award by the Cincinnati Review.

ALTOONA, Pa. — Erin Murphy, professor of English at Penn State Altoona, has published a poem about the recent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. “Aftermath” appears in The New Verse News.

Murphy also has poems forthcoming in Ecotone, Southern Poetry Review and elsewhere. She was interviewed recently for “Inside Appalachia,” a show produced by West Virginia Public Broadcasting.

Murphy is Poet Laureate of Blair County and the author or editor of 13 books and chapbooks, including “Human Resources,” forthcoming from Salmon Poetry of Ireland. More information on her work can be found on Murphy’s website.
