Penn State Altoona's Health and Wellness Center and the human development and family studies degree program are offering a peer advocate program during the fall 2023 semester. Trained students will serve as peer advocates to offer a supportive listening environment with drop-in hours.
The dean's list recognizes the academic excellence of undergraduate students who have met credit load requirements, as outlined by University policy, and who have earned a GPA of 3.50 or higher.
John Eicher, associate professor of history at Penn State Altoona, will offer the lecture series “Modern Western Civilization (1500–Present): From Dawn, to Decadence, to Disillusionment” at the Hollidaysburg Area Public Library.
Through the Age-Friendly Care, PA initiative, the Penn State Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing will again offer its “Living with Dementia” series to provide practical tools, realistic tips and community resources to assist caregivers. Registration is now open for the four-part series will take place in person on Tuesdays in Altoona and Wednesdays in Palmyra, beginning in late August, with an optional "Memory Café" for people living with dementia to enjoy activities in a safe, supervised environment.
Penn State Altoona softball first baseman Gianna Hoppel, of Lewistown, was among the 2,369 Division III softball student-athletes recognized by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for academic success in 2022-23.

Penn State Altoona will display “Viet Kitsch: Lacquer Luster” by Ivyside Juried Art Exhibition winner Millian Pham Aug. 17 through Oct. 5 in the Sheetz Gallery of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
Citing a passion to provide ongoing care for Penn State Altoona and its students, a gift of $25,000 has been made to the college’s Career Closet by Deedra "Dede" Kazmaier and named to honor the dedication to the college she and her late husband, John, shared.
