Penn State Altoona student-athlete Sarah Petry, of St. Benedict, earned second-team All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference status in the 200-yard freestyle swim, as the league office announced its postseason awards on Wednesday, Feb. 28.
Harriett Gaston, an undergraduate studies adviser at Penn State Altoona, was interviewed for a recent WPSU story. The story focuses on the United States Army restoring the record of wrongfully executed Black World War I soldiers, including one from Altoona.

Three members of Penn State Altoona women’s basketball team were voted to the All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference team. Forward Avana Sayles, of Venetia, was voted to the second team of the All-AMCC squad, while guard/forward Jaidyn McCracken, of Bellwood, and guard Jordan Bisignani, of Pittsburgh, were both third-team selections.
Penn State Altoona men’s basketball forward Dwayne Jones, of Philadelphia, was voted the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Defensive Player of the Year and also received first-team all-conference honors, as the league released its postseason awards on Feb. 27.
