South Alleghenies Museum of Art Downtown Altoona location

Penn State Altoona students, faculty, and staff are invited to an open house at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art (SAMA) in downtown Altoona at 1 p.m. on April 21. They will have the opportunity to view the exhibitions “Passing Freight and Contours: Land, Rail, Rau” by photographer Stephen Mallon and guest curator Julie Rockwell. Both Mallon and Rockwell will be in attendance to speak about their work.

Kappa Delta Pi inductees spring 2024

Penn State Altoona’s Kappa Delta Pi, Alpha Epsilon Pi Chapter inducted 23 new members during a ceremony held on Saturday, April 6.

This year’s inductees are Rylee Albright, Brianna Bone, Damian Branas, Madison Coleman, Mara Focht, Taylor Greene, Saige Greenland, Gianna Hoppel, Leah Hostler, Stevie Hoover, Cassie Johannides, Rachel Jung Kayla Lord, Matthew McMullen, Ashley Nahay, Emily Perry, Abby Pentz, Amanda Price, Madison Shaw, Grace Spencer, Rachel Stricek, Caitlin Williams and Emily Wolfhope.

National Poetry Month

Penn State Altoona Professor of English Erin Murphy is among a quartet of women poets who will present a virtual reading of their works at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, via Zoom.

“The Badass Bluettes: An East Coast – West Coast Poetry Reading” will feature Lynne Thompson of Los Angeles, Susan Rich of Seattle, Mary Lou Buschi of New York, and Erin Murphy, professor of English at Penn State Altoona. Their respective new poetry book titles are “Blue on a Blue Palette,” “Blue Atlas,” “Blue Physics,” and “Fluent in Blue.”
