- January 2013 – Sustainability Council advertises first position in Sustainability Communications and welcomes intern Connor Brady. Connor worked on increasing the multi-media outreach of the Sustainability Council through development of the web and Facebook pages.
- February 2013 – Sustainability Council launches first series of workshops entitled “Recycling” with guest speaker John Frederick of IRC. Attendance counts toward sustainability component on SRDP.
- March 2013-Sustainability Council hosts “Farmer’s Market” workshop with farmer Chris Wise of Friends Farm and Beth Futrick of Cherry Hill Farm.
- April 2013- Sustainability Council supports the Ag Club sponsored “Grass Fed Beef” presentation. Credit is given towards the sustainability component on SRDP.
- May 2013 – Sustainability Council Internship Program welcomes intern Christa Klinger whose tasks include the creation of the Sustainability Council eNewsletter and a campus-wide survey regarding local foods, with the assistance of Dr. Nicholas Rowland.
- June 2013- Partnering with the manager of the Juniata Farmer’s Market and the Blair County Conservation District, Penn State Altoona welcomes the summer market to campus.
- July 2013-Lisa Emili begins position as newly named Sustainability Coordinator.
- September 2013- Aldo Leopold benches are created from wood saved from the American Elm tree in the campus quad that succumbed to Dutch Elm disease. The benches are showcased at the Seminar Forest fire pit.
- September 2013- Sustainability Council supports the Ag Club sponsored “Canning, Freezing, Drying” workshop. Credit is given towards the sustainability component on SRDP.
- October 2013-Sustainability Council “Electric Car” workshop with guest speaker and Sustainability Council member Richard Flarend.
- October 2013- Cabin Beautification Project proposed by Erin Nachtman and Ian Marshall is funded through a CDF award. Planting of two dozen native species mentioned in Thoreau’s Walden are installed by Kerr Landscaping.
- October 2013 – A group of Environmental Studies students create a semi-permanent fire circle in the meadow area at Seminar Forest to use for club meetings, day trips and for recreational uses.
- November 2013- Sustainability Council “TerraCycle” workshop with Sustainability Council member Erin Nachtman.
