ALTOONA, Pa. — Erin Murphy, professor of English at Penn State Altoona, has published a new collection of original essays. “Mother as Conjunction: Lyric Essays,” Murphy’s 15th book, is published by Harbor Editions. The subjects range from TV game shows and Elvis Presley to bullying and trauma.

Lynn Melnick describes “Mother as Conjunction” as stealthy, shrewd, and marked by compassion and says it gives readers “a glimpse into caretaking in all its myriad forms.” Dinty W. Moore praises the “compelling collection” as “at times playful, at times reflective, and always spirited and surprising.”

A book launch and reading will be held Friday, Feb. 6, at 6 p.m. at the Print Factory, 130 S. Allegheny St., Bellefonte, Pennsylvania. The event is free and open to the public.
