Penn State Altoona’s Drew Porter named SUNYAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Penn State Altoona student-athlete Drew Porter, of Centreville, VA, was named the State University of New York Athletic Conference’s (SUNYAC) Women’s Swimmer of the Week on Nov. 17 when the league released its weekly swim awards.

Porter had a trio of individual first-place finishes in Penn State Altoona’s dual meet at Division II opponent Lock Haven University last Saturday, November 15.

Porter’s first victory of the day came in the 200 Yard IM, when she recorded a time of 2:26.35 to finish atop the standings. Five events later, she won the 200 Yard Backstroke in 2:22.34, then secured the trifecta three swims after that, when she nabbed first place in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:06.37.

Additionally, Porter was part of a second-place team finish in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, in which her squad combined for a time of 2:02.14.

Penn State Altoona women’s swimming returns to action later this week when it travels to Canton, Ohio, to compete in the three-day Malone University Invitational, which begins Thursday, Nov. 20.
