NSF Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) Kickoff Meeting

The Strategic Interdisciplinary Research Office (SIRO) at Penn State cordially invites faculty and researchers to attend an in-depth session focused on the National Science Foundation (NSF) Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) Program. This session will provide participants with critical insights and practical guidance to support effective strategic planning and enhance the competitiveness of MRI proposals, particularly those requesting more than $1 million in funding.

The Grants & Contracts team is here to support faculty members in preparing grant submissions and administering external funds. Our team works directly with the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), which provides central coordination and oversight of Penn State-sponsored programs.

Our team can assist you with:

  • Identifying funding opportunities
  • Navigating the grant submission process
  • Budget preparation
  • Managing post-award expenditures
  • Finalizing award closeouts​

  • Discipline/Subject Area: Basic research in neurobiology, defined as follows: Invertebrate and vertebrate (excluding clinical) neurobiology, specifically investigations of neural mechanisms involved in sensory, motor, and other complex functions of the whole organism as these relate to behavior. The overall goal should be to better understand behavioral output or brain mechanisms of behavior.
