The Penn State Altoona LEAP Program is an opportunity for new students to start their college careers in a smaller college environment, helping better prepare you for the transition to college and Penn State Altoona in the fall. The benefits of LEAP include:

Small classes: Each course you will take through LEAP has a small class size and provides you the opportunity to really get to know your faculty.

Courses: You will take two courses through LEAP. The General Pride will select two courses from the overall list of course offerings for Summer Session II. The Engineering Pride will have one prescribed course per Pride, with the second course of the student’s choice.

Math and Tech Academies: The Math Academy provides individualized instruction to prepare students to be successful in college-level math courses, while the Tech Academy acclimates students to the vast technology resources of Penn State.

Mentors: A Penn State Altoona student mentor is there to guide you with study skills sessions, library and computer help, social activities, and tips about college life.

Residential experience: We take over an entire residence hall area so that LEAP students live together with other LEAP and summer session students! There are no upperclass students, so you get to know and forge lasting friendships with students starting their college career at the same time as you.
