Students in the vocal performance track take courses in voice, music theory, history, and musicianship. In addition, students will have the opportunity to participate in two choirs and musical theatre productions. Students will also be able to work with our Emerging Music Artist in Residence and a regular slate of visiting musical artists.
Many vocal performance track students participate in Ivyside Pride, our only audition-based choral ensemble. This ensemble has traveled to perform in Germany, Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall in New York City, as well as participated in a world premiere in Vienna. Students will study with faculty who actively perform worldwide.
A growing number of vocal performance track students from Penn State Altoona are attending graduate schools in music and conducting.
