Academic Year Costs

Fall 2016 & Spring 2017

The academic year tuition noted below applies to lower division students who have 0-59 earned Penn state credits. The complete 2016/2017 tuition and fees schedule is available on the Penn State Tuition. Each student’s tuition and fees are based upon his/her grade level, college/major, campus location, and residency. A Tuition Calculator and College Cost Estimator are available on the web site to help identify a student’s charges considering the specific factors noted. When using the calculator, remember that the campus is the location of enrollment for the academic year. The college of enrollment is the academic unit with administrative responsibility for the major in which the student wants to graduate.

Fall 2016/Spring 2017 Fees ~ Per Semester (x2)

An Information Technology Fee is charged to all undergraduate students at all campus locations. Computer Access Accounts provide unrestricted access to Penn State’s computing facilities as well as electronic mail and the World Wide Web. Income from the fee provides direct support for computer services for the purchase of microcomputers, software for student laboratories and digital security.

The Student Activity Fee (SAF) enhances the out of classroom experience for the students. Each campus location collecting the fee has an Allocation Committee to review and approve proposals and distribute the SAF at that location.

The Student Facilities Fee accommodates improvements and expansions to non-academic, recreational and/or multi-use space for students. A broadly representative committee, including student representatives appointed through the campus’s Student Government Association, will recommend and advise the Chancellor and Dean on the proposed use of these funds.
