AMCC Announces 2017 Spring Sportsmanship Team

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. - The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference released its 2017 Spring Sportsmanship Team, and it includes four representatives from Penn State Altoona spring sports teams.

All teams that compete for an AMCC championship choose one student-athlete from their roster who displays good sportsmanship throughout the season to be a member of the Sportsmanship Team. These individuals are selected by a vote of their teammates.

The student-athlete picked by each team must consistently demonstrate a high level of ethical conduct, respect, and fair play in both practice and competition, whether on the sidelines or as an active competitor. Such sportsmanship shall be evident toward teammates, coaches, opponents, officials, and fans. The player must also serve as a positive representative of school spirit when a spectator at other teams’ sporting events.

The four Penn State Altoona student-athletes voted to the Spring Sportsmanship Team are:

Baseball: William Zdinak (Centennial, CO/Cherry Creek)

Softball: Dinah Johnson (Alexandria, PA/Juniata Valley)

Men's Tennis: Thomas Graden (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin)

Men's Volleyball: Billy Smith (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair)
