Education honor society inducts ninth class at ceremony

The Penn State Altoona, Alpha Epsilon Pi Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society in Education, held their ninth annual Initiation Ceremony on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Edith Davis Eve Chapel.

The Initiation was led by Co-Counselors Lynn Nagle and Stacey Corle. Dr. Leigh Ann Haefner, education program coordinator, provided opening remarks and Matthew Stinson, elementary principal with the Altoona Area School District, was recognized by the Society as an Educator Who Makes A Difference.

Twenty students, many of them local, were initiated. New initiates were required to meet a 3.35 GPA, be at least a sophomore in standing, have completed six education credits, and performed service to the chapter and the community.

Students initiated on February 24 include Megan Burley, Amanda Camarote, Allison Church, Emily Cretin, Stephanie Davis, Lauren Diller, Rylee Duck, Emily Duffie-Fritz, Dinah Johnson , Alexa Landis, MaryKate Leinhos , Samantha Niedziejko, Gabrielle Rapone, Annie Ruggles, Nicole Springer, Adam Stiner, Jennifer Stoudt, Kaley Strittmatter, Jenna Taimuty, and Christianna Woodling.

Four students who were initiated last year were installed as Chapter Officers for the 2018-19 academic year. These students include Megan Fouse, president; Nicole Kiser, vice president; Abby Gunsallus, treasurer; and Zoi Beckwith, secretary.
