Email #11: On-Campus Housing assignment access/Amtran bus information

Dear New Student,

This is the eleventh in a series of emails being sent to you from the Office of Student Affairs at Penn State Altoona and contains information on how to go about accessing your on-campus living assignment (residence hall/room number/roommate information) which will be available as of Monday, July 17.

If you have a housing contract in place and are approved to live on campus in a University residence hall (Cedar, Spruce, Maple, or Oak Halls), you will receive an email message from the University announcing that housing assignments are available. Please watch for this email.

It is expected that you will be able to access your assignment information as of Monday, July 17, 2017 at 12:00p.m. noon through the Penn State E-Living site.

If you have any questions regarding your on-campus housing assignment, please contact the Office of Housing and Food Service at Penn State Altoona at 814-949-5713 or email Tanya Yohn at

Amtran is the public bus provider in the Altoona area (Blair County, PA). Penn State Altoona contracts with Amtran for the provision of bus service roundtrip from the Ivyside Campus to the downtown Altoona campus. Students may ride Amtran buses anywhere within Blair County when service is in operation. Students may access this service free of charge by showing their Penn State Altoona ID.

Amtran provides specific information for Penn State Altoona students regarding services provided. Our students may find it helpful to review tips on riding the bus as well.

Service for students officially begins on the first day of the academic semester. However international students arriving early for check-in/move-in will have access to Amtran buses free of charge during the August 10-20 time period. An Amtran representative will be at the International New Student Orientation program to provide information on this service.

Please continue to check your email on a regular basis for information. This is critical as email is our main communication mode. In addition, please check the Altoona international student website for additional information and updates.

Our next email communication will contain an additional tip sheet.

We look forward to working with you as you transition to Penn State Altoona.
