Student Parking

Registration for student parking is by an on-line application process. Please refer to the links below for information.

Students can either pay online, with a credit card, at the time of registration or pay in-person at the time of pick-up. In-person payments can be made with cash, check, or money order.

NOTE: Although there is no charge for summer permits, students are still required to complete the on-line registration and pick up a permit from University Police.

Student Metered Parking

Parking meters, both short and long term, for student use are located in the upper Ivy Parking Lot (near the Willow and Linden Buildings), the Juniata Gap Lot and the Hawthorn Lot. They are intended for use by students who have not purchased a Penn State Altoona parking permit but find it necessary to park on campus for a period not to exceed the posted limits. Parking meters are posted with signs explaining the maximum period of time a student is permitted to park in a metered space. Students are responsible for inserting the appropriate amount of money into the parking meter. (Parking meters are intended for students who need to park on campus for a short period and are not intended for students attending regularly scheduled classes.) Vehicles displaying a valid Penn State parking permit are not permitted to park in the metered section and may be ticketed.

There is a delay in permit process for the fall 2017 semester. Parking permits will not be ready for pick up by the start of classes. Students have until Friday, September 15, 2017, to pick up permits. During this time period, please continue to park in the student designated lots. Parking in an unauthorized lot could result in a parking violation.

Students parking in the Downtown Campus Blue Lot should park in the spots designated for Penn State students. These spots are located closest to 10th avenue and have been marked with blue painted lines.

Students using the Blue Lot must use these spots only. Parking in an unauthorized spot could result in a parking violation.
