Education Abroad

Study abroad/study away programs provide opportunities for students to be challenged by learning in social and cultural environments very different from those in which they grew up and traditionally study.

March 2 - 11, 2018. This 8 day program will allow students to experience service learning by visiting the remote city of Jinotega, Nicaragua.  Students will be able to make lesson plans, teach English to elementary students in their home schools, and/or participate in a sustainable agricultural project. Students will also have the opportunity to explore culture of the region and interact with the Nicaraguans.

March 2 - 11, 2018. The Penn State Altoona Enactus team is partnering with Love in Action International Ministries and Andrea’s Home of Hope and Joy (the orphanage they operate in Bolivia) to research and analyze the economics surrounding their homestead farm. The group has also been analyzing the feasibility of opening a cafe in a nearby city.
