Education Abroad

Study abroad/study away programs provide opportunities for students to be challenged by learning in social and cultural environments very different from those in which they grew up and traditionally study.

Havana, Cuba

Oct. 28 – Nov. 4, 2017. This 8-day program in Havana, Cuba will allow nursing students to become immersed in Cuban culture and the healthcare system. Students will visit healthcare facilities and attend guest lectures on the local health system, challenges and solutions in healthcare and healthcare delivery, as well as health promotion. Service-learning is a component of the program, along with a number of hands on activities like dance lessons and cooking.

Nicaragua

March 2 - 11, 2018. This 8 day program will allow students to experience service learning by visiting the remote city of Jinotega, Nicaragua.  Students will be able to make lesson plans, teach English to elementary students in their home schools, and/or participate in a sustainable agricultural project. Students will also have the opportunity to explore culture of the region and interact with the Nicaraguans.
